The aim of the Directory of Open Access Journals is to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals thereby promoting their increased usage and impact.

Junior Authors and Illustrators contains profiles and photographs of prominent authors, illustrators, and translators of children's books. Many artists and authors have provided autobiographical statements in which they describe ways they have been encouraged in their unique talents. Each profile includes a bibliography of selected works, as well as lists of additional biographical sources. Many of the biographies are enhanced with full text, abstracts, citations, and book reviews from H. W. Wilson databases. The biographies are searchable by name, profession, title, place of origin, gender, race/ethnicity, titles of works, date of birth, date of death, keyword, and presence of images.
